PORT ST. LUCIE – Rep. Patrick Murphy will be a guest speaker at the 5th Annual Treasure Coast Business Summit (TCBS). The focus of this year’s TCBS is Business Growth, Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
Murphy represents Florida’s 18th Congressional District, which includes Martin, St. Lucie, and northern Palm Beach counties. He was sworn into Congress at the age of 29, becoming the youngest Member of the 113th Congress. He currently serves on the prestigious House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Small Business, where he serves as the ranking member on the Agriculture, Energy, and Trade Subcommittee.
Given Murphy’s background as a CPA and operating a small business, he knows firsthand the importance of bringing smart, efficient rules of the road to protect taxpayers from reckless behavior and the need to work together to find new ways to support small business growth. Serving on the Small Business Committee, he will work to promote smarter regulations rather than more regulations and to create a predictable and globally competitive tax code that will help small businesses to spur economic growth through job creation.
The TCBS continues to be the single largest business to business event of the year on the Treasure Coast and has participation from businesses from as far north as Jacksonville and as far south as Boca Raton. There has also been an increased awareness of local business to business activity helping to stimulate local economic recovery.
Based on reports from attendees and participants, we have estimated the annual financial impact of the summit is in excess of $200,000 and an unknown number of jobs created each year. However, we estimate the total to be approaching 100-110.
